GTW have been there through thick and thin for about 30 years now. In recent times they've been hit quite badly by online book sellers so we need to do everything we can to support them. Let's show them a bit of the loyalty they've shown to the gay and lesbian community over the years.

Colin came out during his time at Leicester Poly (now De Montfort University) in 1976. At that time gay resources were a bit more limited than they are now. The fact that Leicester now has its own LGB centre shows just how far things have progressed.

An early influence on Colin. Muther Grumble was Tyneside's 'alternative newspaper' in the early 70's. Not a gay paper by any stretch of the imagination but gay issues (such as the activities of the Gay Liberation Front) were all reported as part of the coverage of the emerging 'counter-culture'. Colin (still believing himself to be heterosexual at that stage) contributed one or two articles on the environment as the local Friends of the Earth organiser.

Originally published in broadsheet format, MG moved on to a 16-page A4 format - the original influence for GEM's own format a decade later. In 2003 a person or persons unknown started posting the original MG issues online, influencing Colin to copy them yet again.

HGN works to promote the health and well-being of gay and bisexual men in Nottingham. They offer sexual and emotional well-being advice/support, STI screening and Hep B vaccination. They also supply the venues with free condoms and lube.
